Researching Keywords and What You Need To Know

Posted by on 15th Nov 2009 Promote your blog 3 comments

Sure, a big part of any successful blog is the writing. You need to be able to get your points across in an effective way using the right language and setting the right tone for the piece that you’re thinking of.

That means that you need to develop your own voice by writing and practicing everyday. However, even when you’ve honed the skill of writing well, having a way to promote your blog is a great idea so it doesn’t just sink in the always changing seas of the Internet.

One of the best ways to do that is to sprinkle keywords into the text at the right intervals, but before you start with that kind of promotion, you need to know which ones are the best to use for your needs.

Keyword Research

That’s where keyword research comes into play. Remember that when you find and use the right keywords that are relevant to the topic of your blog, you can create the kind of content that will drive traffic to your site and increase your credibility with readers. People surfing the Internet are always more impressed by the blog that ranks well in Google searches.

Now that’s all fine and well, but most people could use some help when they are looking to find the right keywords.

First of all you need to find the right research tool. A whole industry has actually grown up around this need, but more and more people are saying that all you really need to get the job done is Google’s Keyword Tool. Having used it myself, I can testify to the fact that’s it’s easy to use and fast and the searches that come back are generally full of the keywords and phrases that are relevant to your search.

Keywords and Keywords Phrases

There’s another point that needs to be made here and that’s that you’ll more than likely not find just one word in any of the searches that you do. They call them keywords but  more often than not keywords phrases is the accurate term. Now, back to the research tool that you’re looking at.

Remember that your options aren’t limited to Google. There is another camp of people that suggest the best of these research tools are the ones that you pay for since the firms that operate them aren’t motivated by trying to sell you advertising. In other words, this school of thought says that these tools will provide the best product possible because that’s the only way that they make their money.

It’s important that you get specific too. Remember that regardless of whether you use a free or paid keyword research tool site, you need to be sure that you get specific with the keywords that you use. As an example, professional writer might get you buried under some stiff competition that can be whittled down if you use a specific phrase like Toronto professional writer.

It’s important to remember that researching out the keywords that you need takes a little patience as well.

You did a good job here.

I use Google Keyword Search Tool on many occasions, and find it very useful in coming up with great keywords and phrases. However, I'm not sure whether I'm ready to purchase software to do keyword search.

Keyword Researching is the first thing that we must do before we create a blog, nice site or even a blog post to make sure that we won't create something that no one's looking for.

Google keyword external tool is a great free tool for keyword research but there are lots of paid tools that gives out better results.
