Current Events and Your Blog

News-clipartBlogs can go through slumps. Sometimes people just don’t visit your site or you get lazy and neglect your writing duties for a while. One possible way to get out of a blogging slump is to incorporate current events into your blog once a week. The great thing about using what’s going on in the world today on your site is that it gives your readers something to connect about and it helps you branch out of your comfort blogging topics.

News websites will be the most beneficial to your current event search. If you blog about weddings, you can find stories about the most expensive wedding of the week, or wedding do’s and don’ts that have actually happened.

If you write a blog about things that have a wider range of broadcasts such as technology, then you can write about new products or developments in the technology world just about everyday. Of course you don’t want your site to turn into a replica of other sites, but you can give your readers one place to stop on the World Wide Web instead of navigating away from your site to get additional information.

Just about every blogging topic has news worthy information available. When blogging about the mating habits of third generation Dicopomorpha echmepterygis (a North American wasp), you probably won’t find many articles on this particular insect, thankfully, though, most of us don’t blog on things that are this narrow.

If your blogging topic is writing for example, and you don’t want to waste your time discussing recent book titles or how people commented on your last post unfavorably, then you can use any current topic and write what you think, or fictionalize it. This same principle can be applied to a blog talking about music, interior design, or even science topics.

Give your readers a reason to stay on your site as long as possible so that they don’t have to look anywhere else for information that they can get from you.

I agree with some points here, especially when one is feeling a blogging slump…it is no big deal to discuss about yourself and what you are going through or simply take out a buzz from somewhere and write it in your own perspective.

Another point, if you write about current events, it'll get more hits, and, since you're writing, might break the writing slump you are in.
