I am proud to announce the release of the latest addition to our book area; ‘The Robots Standard Exclusion‘. The book gives shows you how you can control search engine robots who crawl your blog via the robots.txt file.
This 36 page e-book spans 6 chapters and is available for free to all our blogging newsletter subscribers.
The Robots Exclusion Standard
The Robots Exclusion Standard was developed in 1994 to give webmasters control over what search engines do when they visit your web site. This was achieved via the robots.txt file, a plain text file in which you tell search engine spiders what areas of your site they can and cannot crawl.
2 years later the ROBOTS meta tag was introduced to the standard to allow webmasters to control whether a page is indexed in the SERPS via an individual page.
In this ebook you will learn :
- What the Robots Exclusion Standard is and why it was developed
- How you can edit your Robots.txt file to stop search engines from indexing certain areas of your site in the SERPS (Search Engine Results Pages)
- How to use the ROBOTS meta tag on your website.
- The limitations of the standard
- And much more
