My usual process is to scan headlines, if I like the headline I&#039;ll go one step further and open the post in google reader then scan the post. If I really like what I scan I&#039;ll star it if it&#039;s too long or I feel I can use it for future use. 
 
This was a rare occasion. I was indeed looking for your 14 points. I really like list posts. They&#039;re quick and I generally do find something new. I agree with you though that there is a lot of repeated information out there.  
 
The most valuable posts for me are the list posts with a solid paragraph underneath the point further explaining it, rather than just the point itself. This way you get the scannable content as well as the valuable content. </description>
