Twitter mention spam really is becoming a plague! I've seen lots of tweeps complaining they're being duped with mentions like "@reply your link was broken, see here *url follows*". Posting legit mentions now on Twitter gets really complicated -- I always think twice before I word them, so I don't get randomly blocked/reported. Gah. Twitter doesn't seem to be doing much about it so far.
My recent post <a href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/ArtsAndWordsJournal/~3/3X4KrQW-evI/advantages-of-dofollow-blogs-check.html" rel="nofollow">Advantages of DoFollow Blogs Check Which Sites Are DoFollow With a Mozilla Plugin</a>

In all honesty it feels like about 80% of all @replies to me on Twitter are SPAM. And that's a conservative estimate. It's very frustrating.

I have been wondering lately how and why I was getting hit with so much spam. I still don't understand it all. I do like suggestion #2, which requires users to have a certain number of tweets before they can mention someone. I noticed most of the spam accounts that mention me usually only have one tweet, or if they have several, it's non-sensical words or phrases. It is really an annoyance to deal with.

I have been getting a fair bit of @reply spam lately which is a bit sad. Twitter need to really do something about all this spamming at the moment. I forsee us having to pay twitter to battle the spam in future. There have been rumours or announcements of 'business' twitter accounts hasn't there?

I'd also like an option of when viewing other peoples twitter accounts to just view all messages that don't contain @username tweets.
