There are literally thousands of blogs on the Internet now, which often makes it hard to get traffic because of all the competition. BlogUpp aims to help you with that. It’s one of the easiest ways to effectively promote your blog and boost your traffic. Best of all, it only requires 2 very simple steps.
You’ll need to wait a few days before your blog is actually approved. You’ll know that your blog has been approved by the color of the center widget bar (as seen to the right). “Grey stands for pending, Blue – for approved, and Red – for denied.” For obvious reasons, adult, gambling, illegal and other inappropriate sites will not be accepted.
Wondering how it all works? Well, BlogUpp takes a snapshot of your blog and updates your RSS feed regularly so that your content will remain up-to-date. Your thumbnail will then show up on widgets of other related blogs. The widget is interactive, so when users scroll over the thumbnail, a snippet up your most recent post will then be displayed.
There is a 10:9 sharing ratio which means that every “10 blogs shared in your widget makes your blog discovered by 9 readers on others”. If you’re wondering if clicks on the widget will take traffic away from your blog, it won’t; clicks on the widget will be opened in a new tab.
Pros
- There’s no signup required.
- It takes less than a minute to get started.
- There are no annoying animations or popups.
- Numerous languages are supported: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, French, Russian, Chinese (Simplified & Tranditional), and Japanese.
- The widget is customizable.
- There is an alternate code for sites that don’t allow iframes (the format of the original code).
- Viewership is targeted, not random; your widget will be shown on similar blogs and vice versa.
- You can view your stats via the BlogUpp Stats page using an OpenID to login.
- You can purchase additional impressions for your blog by becoming a Premium subscriber.
BlogUpp seems to be a win/win situation. Would you agree?

Thanks for the share! I'll put this up on all my blogs and then report results in a month.

I've used blogupp for a while but i removed it after using.
The reason was it was ineffective.
Also it made my blog slow down.
Thank You, I'm going to test this out.
Testing this out right now, will see if it's effective.
I am reluctant to use something like this without some sort of proof that it is indeed effective.
I've seen exactly this type of widget before ( used 2 of them ), in both cases I haven't seen any noticeable traffic improvements.
Agrees with V.C that these can slow page loads.
Honestly, ask yourself – your on a painting blog and you look to the right and this widget is spotlighting other (maybe non related) sites..
how often are you gonna click that? Not too much if at all.
Fine idea but it fails in the implementation.
