Charnita FanceView Content From The Social Web With Brizzly

Written by Charnita Fance from mrsfance

View content from the social web with Brizzly.Brizzly, currently in private beta, is a new social web application. Currently you can only view Twitter content on it but they are planning to add other social sites in the future. So for now, Brizzly is basically an advanced version of Twitter with a few added features and bonuses.

Brizzly does support multiple accounts as well (up to 5), which is always a plus. It’s not in real-time right now it’s more like the Facebook timeline; when there are new items it will prompt you to refresh.

A few of the features are like are:

  • Inline display of video and images – currently only images from Twitpic and Yfrog and videos from YouTube and Vimeo are supported.

  • Trending topics with short explanations as to why they’re trending.
  • Inline replying – so you don’t lose your spot in the timeline when replying to someone (I hate that).

  • Composed tweets and replies can be saved as drafts.
  • You can create groups to better organize your followers.

  • You can save searches for future reference.
  • You can view Brizzly in “standard” or “wide” view via settings.
  • You can mute people you follow who are too noisy.

  • When you get a DM, you’ll get an notification with the option to “view” or “shh” it; if you choose to view it, the DM will appear in an IM-like window.
  • Keyboard shortcuts for scrolling up and down the page.

A few things I feel are missing:

  • Multiple columns – this is something I’ve come accustomed to now (ie. Tweetdeck, Seesmic Desktop) and can’t seem to live without.
  • An integrated URL shortener to help conserve characters.

For now I feel Brizzly is decent but could be better. Of course it is in early beta so there are lots of more updates to come. I’m pretty anxious to see how they plan to integrate other social sites as well. What are your thoughts?

I have tried it out. It has some decent features, but unless they build some sort of desktop application for it like Tweetdeck, then I probably won’t really won’t use it.

Brizzly is definitely a very neat website, I hadn’t seen that before! Seems like nowadays there are a ton of these startup Web 2.0 websites that each offer something unique to the web. Keep em comin!
