Patricia VennesPlugins for English Nerds

There are a lot of plugins out on the Internet for bloggers. There are so many in fact, that no matter what you enjoy there’s bound to be a plugin for you to use.

I’ve found a few plugins for those book and literary nerds out there who love to let people know silly information.

Personally I’m a book nerd so when I found out about the Amazon Showcase Wordpress Plugin I was excited. I’m always reading several books at a time and I enjoy talking with people about my current selection. With this plugin, you are able to use the ISBN number of the book to add to your blog. This will then display the cover of the book you are reading. I know it sounds pretty nerdy to be excited about what you’re reading, but it’s the simple things in life that are enjoyable.

What if you’re the type of person who loves to ponder interesting quotes? Well there’s a plugin for you too. The Quotes Collection Plugin is the perfect add-on to your blog to get your creative juices flowing. It also gives your readers something to think about after they have absorbed all of your words of wisdom. You can add quotes from your favorite authors/bloggers, or write a mind blowing saying that you’ve thought up yourself.

What about you poets out there? The Poetry Widget contains a data bank of poems that will randomly display on your blog. You can have a new poem everyday that gives you the satisfaction of keeping the “Dead Poets” alive.

Here’s something that will make you tingle with joy: a word meter for writers. The NaNoWriMo Word Meter tracks your progress and lets your readers know just how much you’ve accomplished. The default for this plugin is 50,000 words (the size of a novel), but the total words can be changed to accommodate the goal you are trying to reach.

There are millions of other plugins available for readers and writers. If you want to spice up your blog, try adding in a plugin or widget to give your readers something else to enjoy.
