		<description>I&#039;m not 100% sure of the official rules behind using semi colons but my opinion is that they should be used sparingly. Articles which are littered with semi colons are very difficult to read. That&#039;s why they are not used as much in newspapers, magazines or books.  
 
I just picked up &#039;Barack Obama : The Audacity Of Hope&#039;, which happens to the closest book to me at the moment. I quickly scanned a few pages and the semi colon was only used once or twice. </description>
