Enthusem Markets Your Twitter, from Web to Real World

Connecting the real world with the web world. It’s an important concept that’s growing in adoption because of the digital divide and the mainstream presence that web technology has planted firmly in our every day culture. But as we’ve all learned, one powerful aspect of social media is marketing, and that marketing is one extremely important use case scenario on Twitter.

Enthusem is a new marketing service that combines all of the above, thinking outside the box in order to better connect with consumers and other individuals for a unique branding experience. What Enthusem does is send the physical equivalent of an ecard in one’s actual mail box. The result is a nifty way of sharing any sort of content, web or otherwise. The card comes complete with custom messages and URLs that the recipient can check out at their leisure. But it’s the connection between the web world and the real world that’s most intriguing with Enthusem’s product.
One of the more popular options for Enthusem is the “I’m Following You on Twitter” card. You can send one of these to a person you’re now following on Twitter, granted you have their physical address. Could this be the new auto-follow DM?

To make the Enthusem messages all the more effective, they come in a translucent envelope, so the recipient’s attention is grabbed right away. That right there makes a physical message all the more memorable, because most Twitter users are now inundated with auto-direct messages on a daily basis.

Marketers are turning to Enthusem for this very reason. It takes a new approach to marketing that leverages social media, yet doesn’t rely on traditional online marketing tactics or measurables for success. Enthusem enables marketers to target social media influencers on an individual.

So could Enthusem be considered a third-party service in regards to Twitter? An interesting marketplace could be established here, in the same format that some Facebook apps follow–providing direct mail services without needing to know a recipients physical address. As long as the third party service knows the addresses, everyone’s privacy is protected and the web and real worlds can continually be connected in a safe fashion.

Could this be something that Twitter would create a marketplace around? Twitter has been modifying the way in which it provides certain services, such as auto-direct messages, in order to tone down the spam capabilities of abusive users. As long as such a marketplace curbed spam and created value for both senders and recipients, it could be a useful integration for Twitter, perhaps as a paid service.

Everyday we get a new program to make our lives easier. I have my favorite list of twenty five. But unfortunately there are only 24 hours in a day. Thanks, but no thanks.
