As for double spacing after a period, that&#039;s how I learned and is still an acceptable format that most editors want to see.  I have noticed that those guidelines are changing, so if you send in a manuscript it&#039;s best to check the publishers guidelines. 
 
I did search for the proper format (after reading your comment) and found as many writers saying use two spaces as I did those saying to use one space following a period.   
 
It wasn&#039;t that long ago that all were preaching two spaces after a period.   
 
Gotta love the Internet for mixed information. </description>
