Writing With Passion

Today, I’ve decided to take a break from my usual area of writing and discuss passion.  If you’re a writer, whether you write fiction or you’re just a blogger, you must have passion or you wouldn’t be writing, right?  It does take passion to keep writing on a daily basis.  But I want to talk about letting your passion show in your writing.

No matter what topic you’re covering you need to have passion and you need to let the reader see that passion, even if it’s just a little bit.  We don’t have to go overboard by going on and on about how great a product is, but we should at least indicate to the reader that we do enjoy the subject at hand.  No one wants to read a text book on the web.  Much of the writing I do here at Blogging Tips is text book material and often it’s very boring subject matter.  When I’m faced with a topic that seems too dull, I try to inject a little humor or something so it doesn’t come off sounding too boring.

Writing on the web, to me, is one place you can drop some of the professional tone of writing and get away with it. In fact, readers usually prefer a more natural style of writing.  Readers want information but they also like to be entertained.  They are more than likely going to remember your material if it has humor or some little quirk to it.

With fiction writing it’s a lot easier to write with passion and to let that passion flow onto the paper.  Non-fiction writing is a little different, it’s hard to bring your passion across the page to the reader, but it’s not impossible.  Think about how the information would be more appealing to you if it wasn’t so stuffy, or if you could relate it to a humorous event.  Chances are, if you find it amusing while being informative, the reader will too.

For a daily blogger; try taking one post a week and turning it around to be more fun and spontaneous.  Write out of the ordinary and see what kind of response you get.  Spend one day a week writing with passion and letting that passion show in your work.  I believe your readers will enjoy the change of pace, but more importantly, I believe it will benefit you greatly.  Writing can get boring so we have to keep it fresh, keep it alive, and keep our passion for writing going strong.  Throw out the text book and the manual of style and write from your heart.  I’m not saying you have to write sloppy, but we still need to have fun with our profession and sometimes that means breaking a few rules.

I agree. As writers, we should write a certain topic with passion. I think it is one of the best ingredients in writing so that readers will find reading our blogs or articles more interesting.

I agree with you here. The posts can become much more interesting if you have a passion towards the topic.
