Every blogger and their mother has a Twitter profile these days. Twitter has almost gotten bigger than The Beatles. Twitter is one of the only social networking sites that has broken major news stories, and this has caused even the mainstream media to pay attention. There is no better time to latch on and take advantage of all that Twitter has to offer your blog.
The WordPress development community has clearly caught on to this and we are seeing more and more great plugins for integrating WordPress and Twitter. As long as the Twitter effect continues to spread, you will be able to tweet your blogs’ way to more visitors. All in 140 characters or less.
Twitter Tools – This plugin by Alex King integrates your Twitter profile with your WordPress blog. It allows you to grab your tweets and post them as digests or individual posts. You can create new tweets directly to Twitter within your blog posts and in the admin panel.
Kish-Twitter – This is a great plugin that lets you display your tweets and your readers’ tweets. You can also use it to display “Related Tweets” which will find tweets related to your post topic. You can even use this plugin to search add a Twitter search tool to your blog.
Twitter Tag – Is an interesting way to add a social aspect to your blog. Include someone’s Twitter username in the @user format and the plugin will send a tweet telling them that they’ve been tagged in one of your posts.
Twitter User – A great plugin for multi-blogger sites, this plugin adds a field for the user’s Twitter username to the profile page. Then it automatically adds a button to the end of each user’s posts (or where you specify) linking to their Twitter page. Twitter user is also a Blogging Tips WordPress plugin.
WP to Twitter – Automatically posts a new tweet using cli.gs short URLs’ each time you post on your blog. There are quite a few plugins that do this for you, but WP to Twitter seems to be a popular choice.
Thread Twitter- Fetches your tweets and @replies and displays them in a cool threaded format.
Top Twitter Links – Tell your readers whats new with this plugin that displays popular links from Twitturls in a widget.
This has been 7 of my personal favorite Twitter plugins that I like to use on a few of my blogs. Feel free to let me know which ones you like to use.

Another great list Ryan.
Hey, Ryan. This is a great start for those new to Twitter, who might not yet have an idea of everything it has to offer. It is also informative for the experienced Tweeter who wants an update about the latest to come from the Tweet lab. Excellent work.
Hi Ryan,
Yes, Twitter is one of the most popular sites in the entire Internet today and it has grown at an incredible speed.
I think that 98% of people who have a blog use Twitter. These plugins are really useful and they can help you to get more out of Twitter.

Great list Ryan
How about a follow-up post on which ones you're using, why and how? There are so many plugins and Twitter apps but what we really need to share is what they're good for and when and how to use them.
