On my main site, Plagiarism Today, I write a great deal about copyright issues and how they affect webmasters, artists, bloggers and anyone else who publishes to the Web.
I am also the first to admit that copyright law can be very boring. For every case like The Pirate Bay trial that grips the world, there are literally hundreds of dull, though equally important, lawsuits and criminal cases going on.
Many times, reading about copyright law can be the surest cure for insomnia. However, with my new site, Copyright Fail, I’m hoping to change all of that.
Copyright Fail is all about the funny side of copyright, the crackpot legal theories, the stupid moves and the obvious plagiarisms. It’s a chance to laugh about copyright law rather than study it or argue about it.
Here are some of the kinds of stories you can expect to find there:
- A video about some of the UK’s worst video game plagiarisms
- The man who tried to copyright his name to avoid paying the IRS
- The New Zealand club that barely escaped a copyright suit for creating fake parking tickets
The goal is to link to and, when appropriate, embed some great copyright fails to try and lighten the mood in the copyright world.
Built With Tumblr
In addition to being a very different kind of blog for me, it is also an experiment in another way, it is my first serious attempt at building a blog using Tumblr.
Due to the nature of the content I wanted to upload, mostly links and embeds, I chose Tumblr as it makes the process as easy as possible and supports custom domain names.
Though it is a bit jarring to be away from WordPress, my usual blogging platform of choice, I’m learning a great deal and looking forward to adding tips and tricks for your Tumblelog here on Blogging Tips.
So stay tuned to Blogging Tips for more about this change and keep an eye on Copyright Fail for future copyright-related laughs.

Best of luck with the site Jonatahan. You are one of the few people who are very proactive about this and have been keeping the rest of us educated about it.
A friend of mine uses Tumblr for her blog so it will be good to see posts about that platform
Looks awesome man; was planning to start my own 'online law' site that would focus on legal issues effect webmasters but never got the time to commit.
You have much more patience than I in sifting through all the info on copyright. You are correct it's a bit dry to say the least. Valuable to know nonetheless.
Nate
Kevin: Thanks for the well wishes. I'm learning a lot about Tumblr and am looking forward to doing a few posts on it shortly.
Donance: It's a tough area to commit to be honest. It is time-consuming. Still, it can be rewarding and I'd love to see what you create if you do decide to try.
BP: I don't know about patience, I think it's borderline masochism…
