Kristen NicoleTwitgoo for Integrated Image Sharing on Twitter

Earlier this week I wrote a blog post highlighting the importance of sharing media on your Twitter stream for building your personal or professional brand, but also mentioned some of the missed opportunities Twitter itself could take advantage of by not supporting direct media uploads. And even though the ability to promote your shared media through Twitter is left to third party applications, it’s important as a blogger for you to take advantage of these apps as Twitter continues to build out its own feature offerings.

Another new service that lets you upload images and sends an update through Twitter is called Twitgoo, and it has a rather simplistic but integrated approach to sharing photos on Twitter. Simply sign in with your Twitter credentials and select a file from your computer to upload. The interesting aspect of Twitgoo is the way in which it displays shared images, which appear skinned in the user’s own Twitter background. For viewers, each photo and its associated tweet can be retweeted or replied to. For browsing purposes you can also skip to the next photo in Twitgoo’s service.

Another helpful feature Twitgoo has is a search function, which pulls up all the related images for your query. This is a useful feature that some of the other services like TwitPic doesn’t have. Given the public nature of Twitter’s time line and the growing need to be able to filter through tweets, the ability to search images via Twitgoo can come in handy. This is especially true for bloggers looking to build their brand and become more accessible through Twitter. In this sense, Twitgoo becomes yet another channel through which your tweets are being distributed.

While Twitgoo doesn’t have major mobile support and could benefit from layering in even more social networking support for media sharing, the biggest benefit of Twitgoo is its integration with Twitter itself. This makes the Twitgoo experience far more aligned with regular Twitter use. Tapping into more search features, such as connecting photos uploads with trending Twitter search terms, would also be more beneficial to bloggers, as this could be helpful for promotional purposes and increases accessibility to a blogger’s Twitter profile.
