Kristen NicoleTweecious Mashes Twitter with Delicous. Saves Time.

Twitter has the potential to take over many other web services in one way or another. Email, for instance, is jokingly referred to as Twitter’s ancient predecessor. So what about social bookmarking; could Twitter take over that as well?

A recently launched browser add on called Tweecious is hoping to at least combine Twitter with some social bookmarking capabilities in order to take the first step towards enhancing Twitter’s ability to be used as a bookmarking tool. Combining Twitter and Delicious, Tweecious scans all your tweets in search of links you’ve shared, and automatically adds them to your Delicious account as saved bookmarks.

While you’ll still need to rely on others to vote your link up in order for it to appear on the top-ranking home page, your tweeted link will appear as a Delicious bookmark nonetheless.

For blogging purposes, there may be a number of reasons for using Delicious, and linking this with your Twitter account could make your job a little bit easier. It’s the act of automating some of your redundant tasks, in sharing a link on both Twitter and Delicious.

If you share link on Delicious in order to increase your standing within the Delicious community, using Tweecious only reduces the amount of time required to do so. If you’re using Delicious to promote your own work then pushing your content across Twitter and Delicious in one fatal swoop is also a big time-saver.

On a more personal level, Delicious could be used as an organizational tool that acts as an extension of your own memory. In this case, saving links for later reference can be a great reference tool for articles you’re working on, or things you’d like to link back to at a later date.

The biggest benefit of this? Delicious is searchable where Twitter is not as easily archived, organized and searched. Think of Tweecious as a mashup that backs up your tweets containing shared links. Until Twitter finds a way to offer bookmarking services of its own (if this is even a viable feature that Twitter is considering), looking to Tweecious is one alternative.

Check out Twitchboard for another Twitter/Delicous mashup, which doesn’t require any browser add-on installations and also offers useful data on most shared terms via its application.
