I am very much against Google purchasing Twitter. I believe Google has far too much power over the internet and how users navigate it. They are the "boss" of website owners, who do everything they can to make their personal websites "google friendly." Instead of simply having to focus on excellent writing and easy navigation, they have to decide on what google's "flavor of the day" is in SEO. How many people in the world say, "Google it" instead of "Search it?" Ahhh, and remember google's little "mistake" recently in which they warned internet users of the many "dangerous" websites out there? Traffic was way down that morning for so many. And b/c of that, their INCOME was down.

So if you haven't guessed, I believe google should back off and use that money to put back into adsense or coding or SOMETHING. What is next, Facebook? Myspace? Wiki?

Lately no startup can become successful without everyone suddenly lumping the expectation of a Google buy-out on them. That must be incredibly frustrating and stressful at times.

What happened to just building something and being in it for the long haul? Not just building hype and cashing out? When did a Google buy-out become the ultimate benchmark for web entrepreneurs?

Shouldn't Google figure out how to make money with YouTube before even thinking about purchasing Twitter?

Google are always thinking about the future and they see Twitters success growing and growing. I think even Google has been surprised about their growth in the last few months as when Twitter were looking for funding a year or so ago Google were not involved.

Is Google trying to make a monopoly on the internet? I think buying twitter is a very bad idea, just like they've done with Feedburner. Although I'm a fan of google services, I don't support their idea of buying almost all of the popular services on the net.

I don't like the idea of Google purchasing Twitter. I'd much rather see Biz Stone make Twitter an independent success such as he said on his Steven Colbert interview. Google has quite a background in purchasing companies/services only to let them die. While the odds of that happening to Twitter if they were to purchase them are low, I still see it as a big risk. Just take Jaiku for example. That was an expanded version of Twitter which they did nothing with. There are other examples but I really hope Google plans on doing something with the service if they buy it or I will be extremely P.O.!

Seeing the now "terrible" FeedBurner, and Google's "well managed(!), good(!)" responses, I'm with 5.66% of Strongly Negative people. Twitter is better as it is.(Just like Feedburner was without feedproxy and feeds2 issue and recent subscriber count issue!)
