any thoughts on how to modify this to link directly to the image instead of to the picasa page? I'd like to link straight to the image so I can try and open them in a lightbox instead of redirecting to picasa

Seems it's an issue with Google and how it's outputting thumbnails now.

I had been using the thumbnail widget code you provided ("A Simple Javascript-based Picasa Photostream Widget for all blog types") to display 9 thumbnails in the sidebar of my WordPress blog. However, since upgrading to WP 3.1.2, it now shows the full size image instead of a thumbnail. My code appears to be correct (it's not been changed from when it was working two days ago), so I wondered if you had any insight as to what the change could be that made it stop working? Hi Amanda, I slightly modified your code, so the images are actual links to the foto in Picasa, we can do it by adding this:
.wrap("")

after this
appendTo("#picasaStream")

and before the semicolon (;)

you have to copy the RSS feed for the specific album, of the form: http://picasaweb.google.com/data/feed/base/user/Y... You can find the album by: 1. accessing the album in Picasa 2. clicking on the RSS link at the right part of the page you have to copy the address but delete everything after the questionmark (?) and replace the original code: http://picasaweb.google.com/data/feed/base/user/Y...

Great post! i think its really important to bring all your social media 'bits' into one central location i.e. your blog. thanks for the simple picasa plugin, works really well. would be good if they were linked to the original image but thats cool, i might just embed a slideshow for the WP sidebar
