Great subject, but I’d look even further than just your relationships. Any type of stress, whether it be caused by the people around you, ill health, financial woes, or professional pressures, can affect your blogging success.

I’ve been doing some research on stress management and discovered it’s a vicious circle. A toxic relationship will be stressful, which in turn can cause you to be touchy, testy, and easily annoyed, which can be detrimental to any interaction with the people in your life.

I think I feel a blog post coming on!

Yes, the “dirty environment” is a killer.

I remember the days when my internet marketing stuff got profitable. Then again, all people around were negative, and said that I’m gonna fail, despite them I was making money online. After a time I got sick of their complaining that I waste my life, etc., so I just left the city and moved to another where I didn’t know nobody, I had no friends, relatives, etc there, and that was where I started to make the big bucks ! The things and people around us do make a big influence.

That’s it exactly – I completely agree with your friends and that’s the same way I feel. I didn’t want to be another statistic and admit that I failed at marriage, but I had to make sure my kids were being raised in the best environment possible. As a positive side effect, I started focusing more and blogging better.

@Cassie: My mom had a saying, “I can do bad all by myself.” My mom had three girls (no boys), so what she meant was, make sure your partner adds to your life — not detract from it and don’t ever be afraid to be alone because you can always find joy within.

Not to sound sexist or anything guys – cuz a lot of you are friggin’ fantastic — but I think when women are in an unhealthy relationship, it affects us much more b/c we are programmed to give more credence to our feelings.

So many of us — men and women — stay in unhealthy relationships out of habit, fear of being alone, expectations from others, etc. And as I said in the post, it drains you in every way.

I have a few girlfriends who are single moms and all of them say it’s better to raise their kids alone — and have peace — than have the constant drama of an unhealthy relationship.

After all, you can’t put a price on peace, right?

I never even considered this until I read this post, but now that I remember back to when I was married, I realize I’m in a much better place now (blogging-wise) than before. Even though I don’t have any help looking after my 3 and 4 year old now, it’s a healthier, more relaxed environment so I find I work with a lot more focus and efficiency now.
