Excellent tips on he subject, and a must have for all bloggers. Unfortunately, as experienced by myself, there are the rare times when something completely out of the blue happens, and you can't even get to a computer.

In this case a very well thought out post upon your return is in order; hoping your readers will understand. :)

Great tips here. I never would have thought about pulling in Creative Commons content.

I would add the idea that you should pull from your archives. Let your readers know that you'll be gone and then just pre-post links to some of your favorite posts from the past. It's easy to pull some links and add just a comment or two about them to create a new post for while you're gone.

First and foremost .... congratulations to you and your wife!! Being a 3 time mother .... all I can say is enjoy the moments .... time flies and the wee little ones grow up FAST.
As to answering your question .... I honestly have never thought about what I would do if I needed some "time off". I guess one should plan.
Look forward to other ideas.
