oren - I use GMail. It tells me how you found bloggingtips. The url I posted links to the exact search term you used to find bloggingtips. i.e. it shows the referring page and the original referring page. And that term was BloggersBase.

Kevin - I found your site by reviewing serious blog sites, not by searching the term ‘BloggersBase‘. I've spoken to Dan in the past and respect his efforts and his site.
When I said I'm not trying to know them down, I meant it.
I also emailed you once and replied to you once... Just for the record.

Dan - Thanks for setting Oren in place?? Your kidding right? All the best to you my man.

Hi Jonathan,

Thank you for approaching us and for drawing our attention to the issues you have encountered. Please let me assure you this has been forwarded to our legal department for correction.

<b>We do not want bloggers to license their posts to the public domain.</b> The clarification was meant to explain that as the content now appears on the Internet freely (the public domain), it might get copied by someone else and that will not be the responsibility of <a href="http://www.bloggersbase.com/" rel="nofollow">BloggersBase</a><a> (we cannot prevent such copying exactly as the blogger cannot prevent it on his blog or any other site).

As for the sub-licensing, all our bloggers will have a preference to indicate whether they want their content to be sub-licensed or not. Please bear in mind we are still in early beta, hence not all our features are implemented yet, and we're certainly not doing any syndication at the moment.

Once the changes are made, I will update again.

Thank you,
Dan.

Jonathan - I'm interested in seeing how they respond to this as this would definately change things for bloggers. I don't believe bloggers should give up the rights to their content.

Oren - You found BloggingTips using the search term '<a href="" rel="nofollow">BloggersBase</a>' so I don't agree that you are not trying to knock them down. I have no problem with members being critical about sites we review. infact I encourage it. However, you found BloggingTips by searching for BloggersBase and then emailed me twice to review your site on BloggingTips so it's clear you are trying to knock them down.

Hey Guys

Not going to knock BloggersBase down or anything but in my opinion it's not the simplest service to use. Plus the name... BloggersBase, does that sound like a site where mainstream readers would go ?? Not to me it doesn't

I took a look at the service and checked out their terms of service before I signed up, I've got some concern over section 5(c) of the terms, which says the following:

"By submitting Your Content to the Website, You grant BloggersBase a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable, non-exclusive, sub-licensable right and license to, in whole or in part, with personal credit to You, use, copy, adapt, publish, publicly display/perform, translate, display, create derivative works from and/or license and/or distribute the Content in the Website (the "License") [For clarification purpose only, BloggersBase may only use such License in regard to the whole Content, and it shall not use the License to modify and/or use part of the Content; You hereby acknowledge that such Content is displayed in the public domain, and therefore may be copied and/or referenced outside of the Website. BloggersBase's rights in and to the Content include the right to remove Your Content, upon BloggersBase sole Discretion; to use in any way and for any purpose the Content You submit and/or upload to the Website, whether now or hereafter created; and/or to reproduce and distribute the Content for BloggersBase's marketing and publicity purposes."

In short, they are granting themselves an irrevocable license to do whatever they want with the content bloggers submit, including using it for marketing purposes, and even require that bloggers agree to license their works into the public domain.

Honestly, I think that this is most likely a poorly-written TOS or just an outright mistake, but I would still have to urge caution until this gets looked at. This is pretty scary stuff for a lot of bloggers...

Ahh, this by far has been one of the better looking "posts for us, and be rewarded" websites.

There's quite a few websites that offer this kind of service, but most of them fade away quickly or are on the dying legs under heavy criticism.

Hope this one prevails :)

I see a lot of these new sites and usually I just ignore them, but this one sounds intriguing. I think I'm going to check it out, so thanks for the review.
