Great post! never heard of these blogging carnivals before, so will definitely check that out , as well as the forums your mentioned.

Competition is always great . . I love a good competition. . by the way, I see that you love running on your website – do you use the Nike+ system? cuz if you do, we could compete using it . anyway back blogging :

This is a great post! I am new to blogging and had never heard of blogging carnivals. I checked the website, and this is something I will checking into further. Issuing the challenge makes me a bit nervous…lol. What if I didn't actually meet the challenge? That would not be so good. I totally agree with taking a break every so often. It does help to clear your mind, and also helps to keep you from getting burned out.

What you call blog 'contests' are usually group writing projects, like Daniel's. For a number of reasons, such as the different hosts, these are a lot more interesting than blog carnivals, most of which are just repeated link dumps that no one looks at = no traffic, low link value.
