Whether you own an online business or a blog, you would want to know your position in search engines for specific keywords and also the position of your competitors. This is where Exact Factor, a site that helps you to track your position and your competitors’ for free, comes into play.
Exact Factor is a completely free site (at present) that helps you to track search engine position for your site or blog. Though there are many other sites that do this, exact factor allows you to track how your competitors are ranking for the keyword phrases. One another good feature is that you can find your site’s positioning in various search engines on various domain extensions. You can easily find your site’s positioning in Google Australia. Though this site is completely free, to get access to the advanced features, you must register an account. Registering an account is free and it only needs your email ID and certain other information. You will be asked for your email ID to send the weekly report.

Features Available For Unregistered Free Users
1. Unregistered users can view their site’s ranking for three keywords at a time.
2. You can only find one competitor’s ranking at a particular time.
3. You can analyze up to 20 pages in search engines.

Features For Registered Free Users
1. Registered users can track more than 3 keywords. They have not specified the number of search terms you can track. But when registering, you have the option of entering up to 12 keywords.
2. You can track up to 5 competitors.
3. You have the option to get notified when your competitor overtakes you in the search ranking.
4. You also have the option for getting a notification when your site reaches first position in search engines for any keyword or even when it moves up or down in ranking. You can select these keywords that you want to get notified for.
5. You will be mailed your site’s report once every week.
6. By registering, you also get access to few other advanced tools and analysis.
What I would like to see in exact factor
Exact Factor has many features that other sites don’t have. But there are always certain things I would like to see in almost any site that I browse. At present, exact factor finds your search engine position in only Google, Yahoo and Live. I would like to see Ask and Alta Vista added to their list of search engines.
If you have a business or site that targets certain competitive keywords, you should try exact factor. It doesn’t cost anything as of now.
The one thing that I’m very happy about exact factor is that they are very much willing to receive feedback about their site and you can easily tell that by looking at the feedback icon placed on bottom right corner, which scrolls when you scroll your window.
What would you like to see in exact offer? Will you be trying it out? Please share your views in the comments.
