Hi Amanda,

Thanks for your input on how to start blogging with a minute budget. For your information, i recently launched a niche blog about love and relationship – Cupid Blogger Dot Com on 1 December 2008.

My first month start up budget is less than $30 per month (inclusive domain name registration, web hosting). As mentioned by mike, i would not advice to start with Blogger.com as the ways of monetization is limited and SERP competitiveness comparing owing our own domain name. Besides that, if u start up a blog on blogger.com and become popular, it will be tedious to move everything to a new domain and confusing visitors.

My recurring bills is only my hosting expenses which is below the $10 mark. To start serious blogging, i think $30 commitments for the 1st month and $10 on the subsequent month will definitely pays off very well in the long run. If you manage to get donation from readers and also sponsors on advertising, i am sure it will cover on the expenses.

I am looking forward on the next part of this post.

I disagree with starting with Blogger, if you want to start blogging on a free platform, use a hosted WordPress blog. I've found it's not only a better, more stable platform, but it's 100% more user friendly, has better themes and 90% or more of the major bloggers out there use it, so finding help is real easy if you get stuck. Heck, even this blog runs it.
