You can filter by news content, faces, clip art, line drawings and photo content. This should help you all find the perfect picture for your blog post.

what is the rule with bloggers using other people's photos on the sites? As long as you site your source its ok?
Most of the pics I use are images which are common on the web and have no clear owner though I do occasionally use stock photos and images from other sites and on those occasions I make sure I put a link to the source.
Your best bet is to go to one of the many "copyright free" photo sites to begin with, but this is awesome news from Google. Thanks for the find!

Google should buy Idee Labs Inc. to enhance google image search exponentially. Google Image Search traffic isn't good and can cause a drop in your CTR.
