A great thing about viral content is that in a lot of cases your target audience will actually go and seek it out. Viral youtube videos for example.

I think the infection part’s probably one of the harder components. I keep on coming across stuff online, that clearly was meant or created as part of the viral campaign, that strikes me as not particularly infectious. There’s some psychology going on there as well, trying to figure out what people will want to tell other people about.

Yes. you’re right. No matter how viral your article you won’t succeed if the virus does not spread. You need to spread it out.
