Kevin MuldoonThat’s What I Call Dedication!

I’m not aware of any website which recognises the most dedicated bloggers online but if there was, I’m sure John Chow would be in there challenging for a trophy!

On Tuesday John got taken into Hospital because he had gallblabber stones. Incase any readers doubted that he was blogging from his sick bed, he posted again a few hours later to prove that he really was blogging from hospital.

John Chow Blogs From Hospital

John was able to do this by using his 3G iPhone as a router so that he could connect his Mac Air to the internet. I was more surprised that the hospital let patients use their laptop and mobile in the hospital. At my local hospital you have to switch off your mobile phone incase it conflicts with any of the machines (though many people don’t!).

This is a great example of how dedicated some high profile bloggers are. I think that a lot of new bloggers see the flashy lifestyle of travelling, hotels and fast cars that successful bloggers lead and assume that the blogger got lucky.

Nothing could be further from the truth. All the high profile bloggers I know of got there through hard work, networking and dedication, and it took them years to get to the position they are in. Something which I think we all have to remember.

Anyways, here’s a video of John from his hospital bed explaining the situation. Enjoy :)

  1. Jeez! I’m pretty sure if I had what Chow had, My blog would be the least of my worries :)

  2. Oh, Forgot to add that it could just be a publicity stunt that he tries to pull.. Gets backlinks/reblogging posts from other blogs and gets flooded with traffic to his site.. Clever John.. Very Clever indeed.

  3. I second Brad on the publicity stunt. John is no doubt one of the savviest internet marketers I’ve seen so far and a dedicated one too for that matter. I tip my hat off him.

    Yan

  4. I very much doubt he put himself in hospital for a publicity stunt! ;)

  5. @Kevin: Oh I don’t mean he did it on purpose but he sure knew how to use it to gain more publicity and that’s what I respect him for. Why would anyone put himself in a hospital? ;-)

  6. Yes I agree. It is good publicity but at the same time, a good example of the work some bloggers put in :)

  7. Probably for Market Leverage too? ;-)

  8. Rhea says:

And I was proud of myself for blogging while on vacation….

  9. @ Blog For Beginners – I also noticed the Market Leverage gym bag as well in the background :)

  10. John Chow says:

Thanks for the write up Kevin. I’m not really out of the water yet. I still need to go get my blood check in a week to see how things are progressing. My wife put me on some health diet and exercise program!

  11. Well at least you got out of the hospital. I’d go crazy just lying in bed all day…infact, that sounds pretty good!!

    Hope you get better. :)

  12. My respect to John as he really show his dedication towards what he is doing…

Kevin, i totally agreed with you as hard work, dedication and passion will definitely pays off and nothing can stop an individual from doing anything that he/she really want…

  13. Why is John looking so happy? lol Maybe because he’s making money even in the hospital :P

  14. My opinion is that it is because of blogging that put him into that position to begin with. He’s too attached and it doesn’t seem like he cared about his health until now.

    -Mike

  15. Karan Goyal says:

Indeed thats dedication, specially when you are making money :) . Hey, get well soon.

  16. Mike – I don’t think that any of us know enough about John personally to assume that he doesn’t care about his health because he’s always blogging. Infact, I believe his posts suggest he lives a healthy lifestyle.

  17. Problogineer says:

yeh, He is a damm good blogger..
He was ill but still continued to write.. :D

  18. Deborah Dera says:

I was pretty surprised to see his hospital-bed Twitter and FaceBook posts also.

It seems like hospital technology has changed a bit, though. I don’t think electronic devices interfere as much as they used to.
