Blogging Idol 2 Winner Declared

Posted by on 2nd Dec 2008 Blogging News 4 comments

Blogging IdolDaniel today announced the winner of Blogging Idol 2, Daily Blog Tips recent blog competition which had over $4,500 in prize money up for grabs.

The winners were :

  1. Happy Schools Blog
  2. Suzanne Franco
  3. Tofugu

Blogging Tips regular Suzanne Franco was incredibly unlucky not to take first place. Suzanne managed to tie first place with 3 points however the rules stipulated that in the event of a tie breaker the winner would be the blog with the largest RSS subscriber gain and over the 4 weeks Happy Schools Blog went from 1468 subscribers to 2692.

I’m perhaps a little biased as I know Suzanne and was rooting for her to win but in my opinion her RSS subscriber growth was much more impressive. When she started the competition she had 50 subscribers and today it stands at 600. As I have said many times, getting the first 500 subscribers to a blog is always the hardest as you need to develop the blog from scratch.

My commiserations go to Suzanne but I’m sure her second prize of an annual subscription to Trackur and $300 in text links will cheer her up. Also, congratulations to Happy Schools Blog as well, a 1000+ increase in subscribers in 4 weeks is no easy feat :)

Did any other Blogging Tips readers take part in Blogging Idol 2? If so, what sort of RSS gain did you make during the competition?

Congrats to Suzanne for winning. But I wish they had cash prizes distributed among all three. TLA is almost dead..You will hardly find quality publishers…I didn't like this prize. Though Trackur subscription could be beneficial.

But the most important part here was getting a good subscription count which she has got impressively. Kudos for that achievement. It was no easy feat.

I've never heard of happy schools, but congrats!

I feel so bad for Suz. I've never seen anyone work so hard for something and she did a FANTASTIC job!

Navjot, I think its the other way round, a lot of publishers, but less advertisers at TLA.
