Kevin MuldoonPint Sized Blogger Receives Letter From Obama

Written by Kevin Muldoon from System0 on November 13, 2008

CT Moore emailed me today about a 7 year old who got a letter from Obama, 5 days before the election. No doubt this only made the news because it involves the President Elect but what interested me was the kids age.

Apparently the blog was setup for a school assessment. A part of me is encouraged by a kid so young getting into blogging though a big part of me thinks that the kid should be out in the playground playing with other kids instead of being stuck inside working on a computer. Perhaps I am wrong to make this assumption.

Anyways, here’s the news clip from NBC :)

    Hi Kevin,

You are entirely wrong in making the assumption that kids should be out on the playground and not on the computer

As you can see, today’s kids are different. We kids are everywhere- be it the playground, computer, internet, studies, doing homework, business and even politics. And blogosphere is no different. The younger you start, the better you become. Kudos to Stas for his efforts.

So, I think you may change your misconception and look at us with the new perspective :)

    Thank you.

I have to disagree. Kids should be out playing and excercising more than they are today. It encourages kids to socialise with other people and it encourages them to be more active and not take their health for granted.

there are lots of things we should consider raising our kids, and one way of that is letting them socialize with other and build their self esteem, how can he manage to get in front of many people if he’s stuck with his computer, but on the other side, I’m really amaze with that kid, I want to give him a hotel vacation suits at leutasch.

Why does it have to be all or nothing? It only takes a bit of time to blog even if they do it every day. Much better than simply playing video games for hours per day.

I love how everyone who is into blogging immediately thinks “Uh oh, kid blogger! He’s going to be as irresponsible as me and never exercise or go outside again!”

There is a way to have balance in life. Writing a blog is no different than the myriad other choices we have for how we spend our time. And I bet writing a blog would be healthier than a good portion of the other choices kids have available to them!
