How much money would you be earning if you can triple your conversion rate? How many people will you be able to convert as clients to hire you for their next project? How many extra subscribers will you be able to get if you could triple your conversion rate?
Last week I wrote about how to be a good blogger and still make sales – the top 3 ways. One of the commentators by name Codrut Turcanu I Start Blogging asked “I’m still not sure how to write a good call to action. You’ve said not write “click here”, then what is a “good” CTA in your opinion?”
A good call to action is how you present your promotions to your readers and convince them to buy. If you are a freelancer, you would want to make your readers as your clients by reading your hire me page. A good call to action plus a few more changes to a page can get you high conversions. Sometimes you will be able to triple or even quadruple your conversion rate.

What ever methods I have written below are those that I have tried and those that have proved to work well. I make one post at a popular blog and send the visitors to my hire me page. This is where I see how people convert. Some people visit the page to know how much I charge. But some of them come to the page with a thought of hiring me. I should be able to convince them that I’m the best choice for them, to increase my conversion rate. Here are the step by step methods that I follow for creating a page:
1. Headline – Grab Your Readers By The Eyeball
Headline is the most important factor of a page. When you cannot grab your readers by the eyeball (like copywriter Michel Fortin says) or at least make them to read your page, you are not going to make them buy the product you are promoting. Your headline should make your readers read the page. The opening lines should convince them to read the full page. You can learn how to write magnetic headlines from Brian Clark.
2. Keep It Simple And S_____ (You know what comes here, don’t you?)
Keep your page simple. Avoid high graphics, too many banners and tons of outgoing links. A simple page with very less graphics could increase your conversion rate. I always use the simplest theme so that the readers don’t get distracted. How many times have you seen ads or high graphics in the sales letters of top internet marketers? Not much, right? It’s because they don’t work as you expect it to. Your review page would do better if it is simple.
3. Give And You Shall Receive
It is give and take policy here. When you are promoting a product, you have to provide equal value with your content. If you are promoting your services, you should tell people why they should hire you and how it will benefit them. It is almost always the ones that provide value to the readers that make money. You buy from a top bloggers because you trust them. Trust should be developed with your readers. You can develop trust by offering valuable information to them. I always provide samples of my work to the ones who decide to hire me. When you are recommending a product, provide the readers with information and recommend the product that solves the problem you are talking about, the easier way. Tell them why they should buy the product and why you feel it will work for them. Say, if I’m solving a problem about hosting, I would recommend a host that I’m using and tell the readers why it is great.
4. P.S: Don’t Forget The P.S.
Including a P.S. is a nice way of increasing your conversion rate. You don’t need to include P.S. in all the posts that you write but only in the posts that promote a product. Take my previous example of recommending a host. What I will do is, I will include a P.S. at the end saying they can get a special offer if they decide to buy through me. It will be something like this:
P.S: Did I tell you that you can get one month free hosting if you decide to purchase from my (host name) link?
It is good especially when you have a special deal with the product owner.
For my freelance writing, I will say something like “P.S: Use the coupon code ‘bloggingtips’ to get $25 off from my normal rates”. I’ll create a special landing page for BloggingTips.com readers and use that P.S. Will you not be more interested to hire me?

thats interesting… there are some things we can do that really call for the attention of the reader!
I still think that using “click here” next to your call to action is a great way to emphasize it and get maximum results.
EXAMPLE:
P.S. Did I tell you that you can get one month free hosting if you decide to purchase from my (host name) link? Click here now!
And what about those people who may be reading your Web copy but cannot use (or do not want to use) a computer mouse? “Click Here” will mean about as much to them as telling someone that they HAVE to have the “latest and greatest” [widget] because they’ll [insert stupid reason hyped by peer pressure here].

I just visited your blog. Please let me know why your subscribe remind plugin’s context reads as “If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed!” and not as “If you enjoyed this post and want to subscribe to my blog, click here”.
You say CLICK HERE works fine but I don’t see you using it in the feed context and also you have linked to the product using the product’s name in your latest post. I don’t any link saying click here.
How has that worked for you compared to, when you used click here?
I am glad that you made the headline as the top one, as I believe this really helps. After all, this is the first thing the reader will notice.
For the Click Here issue, I think it depends on how we use this phrase. And Codrut here presented a good example.
