Iterend : Another Blog Search Engine

Posted by on 9th Oct 2008 Blogging News 1 comment

IterendTis the season to launch a blog search engine apparently. Yesterday I announced Blog Catalogs new Search Tool, today sees the beta release of Iterend, the latest search engine which searches through the blogosphere.

Whereas BlogCatalog’s Search Tool searches through members blog posts, Iterend is more of a traditional search engine like Technorati or Google’s Blog Search.

One thing is for sure, Iterend is bringing up vastly different results from Technorati and Google. The first thing I noticed is that posts are not in chronological order. Google’s Blog Search lists results from newest to oldest but Iterend doesn’t do this. The screenshot below shows the first 3 results from searching for the term ‘Playstation’. As you can see, the first results are still within the last 24 hours but there is some hidden factor which determines which result goes first. I searched for several terms and sometimes the first result was the newest, sometimes the 2nd and sometimes the 3rd.

This new search engine is still in the beta phase nd are probably still tweaking it so search results may change in the future. The most important part of a search engine is the results it produces and Iterend seems to be producing different results, which is a good thing in my opinion.

Check it out and let me know what you think :)
