A great design is an important part of branding and promoting a blog. Content may be king however the first bite is still with the eye and the logo is the first thing many visitors look at when they visit a site for the first time, whether they realise it or not. Be it an emblem, picture, icon, sign or symbol, a great logo makes it easy for visitors to immediately recognise your blog. The logo is also usually used on banners, business cards, videos and other media too and is therefore a vital part of promoting your blog.
Designers have a fantastic eye for detail and most are able to tell why a logo is great or not. Unfortunately I am not a great designer however I can immediately tell if I like a logo or not. As the famous saying goes I don’t know much about art but I know what I like!
Which is why I thought it would be good to post what I consider to be some of the best blog logos on the web. I hope these logos inspire designers and I hope that it helps bloggers who are getting a logo designed point their designer in the right direction. Enjoy
* Logos are in no particular order.

I hope you all enjoyed the list. I know I may have left some of your favourite blogs out however my aim was to create a good mix in the list, therefore a lot of great blog logos didn’t make it.
What’s your favourite blog logo? If it’s not on the list please feel free to post a link to the blog in question. It will be interesting to see what types of logos are the most popular.

Suddenly my logo looks so plain and simple.
Thanks for compiling this list.

I’m pretty pleased with my logo, but I’ll admit that I haven’t quite figured out how to thoroughly brand my site with it. It is peppered around, but I’m not sure just how noticeable or recognizable it is:
I guess my logo is not good enough to be in top 100 lol … Or maybe you just forgot balkhis.com
Syed – I do like your logo actually. When I did the post I knew that I was missing out a lot of blogs but there are so many good blog logos on the web I could have easily have did 200.
Hey great list!
But didnt you like mine?
http://www.letssermo.com
Kevin, looks like Syed just inspired you to follow up with a “100 More Great Blog Logos” post.
With that said and done though, what criteria did you use when selecting these logos? (I’m just curious is all.) In other words, what did you like about these logos over all the others you looked at?
I didn’t really have a set criteria. I just tried to have a goox mix between bold logos, small logos, large logos and creative logos. All in all I probably looked at around 400+ blogs but some were just not suitable. For example, there were some blogs with amazing designs but their main logos were plain so they were not included. I actually had about 110 logos and I had to delete some to get to the list down to 100 (which sounds nicer doesn’t it!)
OK, so I was a bit disappointed that mine wasn’t included and (since I paid so much *damn* money to have it created) I figured I should promote it as often as possible!
Here it is!

If you don’t mind me asking, how much did you pay?
Blogsessive’s logo is in good company here! Thanks for this compilation Kevin. I bet it was time consuming, but worth it just to see a nice variety of concepts across the blogosphere.
I might consider number #16 for my logo (lol)
Personally though, I like my logo simple and personal.
Hey Kevin, maybe you could do a companion article to this about how to make the most effective use of a logo once you’ve got one?
I’m interested to hear what’re some of the best ways to ensure that your site’s visitors know your logo. And maybe there are some tips for making sure that search engine results actually show your official logo as one of the first few (most relevant) hits?
Great list! I’ve been looking for a better logo for a while… does anyone know who I can pay to get one made?
Alex – no problem
Rob – As long as you have a good blog design people will notice your logo. Most blog headers focus on the logo and the navigation area so visitors are immediately drawn to it.
What?? Not one single food blog made the cut, and there are so many food blogs with fantastic logos. Fun seeing the other ones though.
You have listed some amazing logos there. But I must admit there are a couple of them that I have no idea how they made it…
Hey, this will make another great reference list bookmark!
Plus, I see a couple interesting looking blogs that I’ve yet to discover!
Cheers!
Jay
It’s now time to redesign our blogs logo because it acts like a unique brand, not just like an icon. Thanks.
man, what a list! great!
wow, how can you get all the logos. You must be a blogwalker.
nice post
Fancy leaving out Sciencebase.com from your list, I think my site’s logo beats at least one or two on this list for aesthetics and interest…but there again I don’t much about art either, I just know what I like.
Woooow… my blog is here! Thanks guys!!! =D
That was really a nice collection …, Move on …
Damn, didn’t make the list but nice compilation
My favorite is over at http://fierceandnerdy.com/
Yes, these logos attached to big bloggers and their brands. Thanks
Wow. I made it on a Great Blog Logo list?! I like my design…I did it myself. I feel so underdressed around all those other big name blogs. heh
Thanks for the shout-out!
Una verguenza… lo unico que haces es nombrar a los grandes blogs…
Mas de un logo merece estar en los 1º puestos y no el de mashable.
Nice selection of logo and mine is in the 100 ! yeah
I’m sure you’ll be interesting by the website of my webmaster : http://www.soulvisual.com

Yay! Thanks for including my little Penguin & Fish logo on your list. I designed it myself. It’s exciting to see it next to all these wonderful logos.
Penguin and fish, young go getter and spoon graphics get my Logo vote. No so sure about how professional some of the examples are but there are some excellent one in there. Thanks for the post.
Good collection of logos. Some logos are extraordinary. I think mine will come in Volume x
I supouse its a joke…
i would never suspect my logo to make this list, because it’s such a small niche blog, but i’m pretty pleased with it.
alternapop.com
some of the logos on this list seem like much more than just a logo. mega photoshop/illustrator work with some text sprinkled in. very nice… but shouldn’t a logo be relatively simple and reproducible on various forms? web, print, etc.
‘expect’, not ’suspect’
Hope see mine here in the near future
Thanks for great list !!
Something really is to be note is that each logo tells a story
and its like inspiration. Really HOT
Holy Sh*T man that is something really cool! OMG! I just can think about theese

Hey man i love them good piece of Photoshop hehe
Woohoo ! Cool logos . I’ll surely use one of them on my Blog
