RamkarthikHow To Convert The Free Traffic Into Precious Readers

Written by Ramkarthik from Blogging Tune on September 6, 2008

Are you struck in converting the free traffic or paid traffic that you get to your site, to your blog’s precious readers? Ever felt that you are letting the people that come to your blog, go away from your site without taking any action? Never leave even a single way to attract them and to make them your blog’s precious readers.

If you had read my previous article on 3 best free traffic ways, you should probably have good idea of how to get people to your website. If you have put them into action, you would have also seen good results. Few people who haven’t got any good result from them must learn the methods properly and try a couple more times before they quit. I assume you are in the bigger ratio of people who have got good results. In this article, I’ll show you how to convert the free traffic you get into valuable readers.

1. Highlight Best Content
The best way to keep your readers glued into your blog is by showing them the best content you have written in your blog. Point them to the article that solves problems. Keep them visiting your blog’s previous posts and have them in your blog for a long time. They should be happy enough with the articles you have. This will automatically give them some assurance that your future articles will be good and they must really subscribe.

2. Keep Them Guessing
In your posts, tell them about what you are going to write in the coming days. You are going to make them wait for one or two days for the articles they are very eager to read. You are going to make them guess what your take on so and so topic will be. This is a great way of making them to subscribe to your blog.

3. Email Subscription
I rarely see blogs that put up email subscription form. It is, in my opinion, a mistake which could cost you a few subscribers. If your blog is a fast growing blog, you could even miss out 100+ subscribers. Always display the email subscription form in your blog. Some people who come to your blog through search engine might not know what RSS is. But most people will have some knowledge of email subscription since many big sites offer it. Adding an email subscription form below every single post is a good idea too.

The Already Said Things
These are some of the things which I have already said in this blog. Few things should be said now and then.

Don’t have too many ads in your blog. People don’t like to see too many ads. Which is better for you? An extra $0.25 or extra subscriber? Many internet marketers value subscribers to be worth $1. It is normally said “An internet marketer with 10,000 subscribers in the list should be making at least $10,000 if the subscribers are responsive. 45n5 blog valued each subscriber at $18.42.

Install the rss related plugins like what would seth godin do, subscribe remind, full feed (if you want to show full feed).

You must be having a clear idea of how to convert your blog visitors into precious readers. How do you make your blog visitors turn into precious readers? Please share it in the comments.

very good advice that focuses on the TRUE value of a blog reader/subscriber and the importance of constantly evaluating the business cost of everything a blogger does.

Basic the email suscription form. Nice post. I still remember when I create my Feedburner account even if I wasn’t understand WT.. I was doing.

The ads are another strong point, something that don’t like to me is that ads (the square one). I don’t understand it, maybe I’m wrong.

Those are awesome tips… although somewhat basic. I always tell new bloggers to do what you said.

Just a tip: I think a very good way to highlight your content is by using a slide show kind of gadget to display like 5 best content you’ve written like the one in Court’s blog: http://courtneytuttle.com/. I’m still trying to figure out how to do that.

I have got the e-mail form, feedburner and feedcat RSS in place. Working on the content and just broke 100K for Alexa ranking. My web stats are pretty good, but there still is a lack of commentators on my blog. I am spending a little more time commenting on other blogs these days to see if that will help bring me some traffic as well.
Sometimes, I feel like I am blogging for myself and it gets pretty lonely out there. But, I keep going with the thought of, more content = more chances of search engine traffic and higher pagerank. And, keep searching for new sources of traffic.

Thanks for the information, it is helpful to me.

I do believe more than going through the SEO strategies are what you just mentioned. The first priority are the readers…the visitors so to speak…

Great advice! It is amazing how many bloggers don’t offer an email subscription to their blog. Just because the content is good doesn’t mean they will come back on their own
