Sociable WordPress Plugin Updated

Dutch WordPress Superstar Joost de Valk has released an updated version of his popular WordPress plugin Sociable.

Sociable is a useful plugin which adds social media buttons to your WordPress blog automatically. It works incredibly well and has many features. You can changes the tagline above the buttons, you can choose whether links are opened on a new page, you can use your own stylesheet if you wish and you choose what areas of your blog will use the social media buttons. For example, you can decide whether archives have the social media buttons added or whether they appear on your home page. You can also add the buttons to your blogs feed.

My only criticism is that there are too many social media sites to choose from. Check out the image below to see what I mean.

I’ve decided to use Sociable on BloggingTips. So the social media section has went from this :

to this

I think this is an improvement and makes the social media section of BloggingTips more user friendly and more professional looking. What do you think?

I know there are a lot of great Social Media plugins available (for example ShareThis) but I’m a big fan of how easy it is to customize the buttons you want displayed using Sociable. If you have a WordPress powered blog I recommend checking it out.

Sociable is an easy to use social bookmarking plugin. Although it would be nice if there were an option to increase the size of the icons. :)

  3. This is really an awesome WP plugin!

It’s a smart and easy way to add social media buttons to WordPress blog. You can make this plugin easier to use as you learn how to get things automated by tying them into WP admin.

  4. Joe says:

How did you get the little icons to appear in a line like that?

  5. Joe – That’s the default way they are displayed.
