Glad you finally found your mentor/path…too many people I know from years back in school were chasing the prospective dollar via some theoretically great degree…most of which ended up being really irate with the job path they chose after the fact.

It may be cheesy but 'follow your dreams' is not a bad way to go. There is generally money to be found in personal passions even if you have to dig a bit to find them.
