I’ve never had a website template that did not need extensions clean up work. And wysiwyg editors only add to the problem.

Decreasing the size of both html and css files - is the thing i've been thinking of for the couple of weeks already... and am still afraid of getting to it:) your article has worked as a reminder. will try to get to it right away and see what can be done. will try out the http://www.cleancss.com/, hope it will be useful.

Great post, John. I wish more people would consider the importance of clean code. Code is poetry. Messy code is sickening.
