3 Things To Check Before Submitting Your Post To StumbleUpon

I have been writing about social media for the past two months nearly and you can read them by viewing my profile. Now I’m covering posts on stumbleupon and this is the second article on stumbleupon.
As a blogger, you write good content in your blogs and expect a huge traffic to visit your blog and read the posts. You can get many people to visit your blog if you use social sites like stumbleupon etc. If you write an extremely good post and hit the front page of social sites, you can expect a huge traffic to your blog.
Before others submit any of your post to stumbleupon, think about few things which will decide the conversion rate. Good content is obviously a must. Till today content is king. But there are also other things which you need to check before submitting a post to stumbleupon or before any other person does it.

Bloggers like to increase their blogging income and one way to do is by placing ads. But the thing is, you will not earn money if you are placing too many ads in your blog. In fact you will earn more by placing little ads at the right places. Having too many ads and receiving people from stumbleupon to your blog will result in any of the three things: People will move to a different site or they will give thumbs down or they will close their browser. The second is easier to happen and sometimes people do one and two.
2. Faster Loading Of Page
StumbleUpon users don’t wait long for a long time to see a page load. As a stumbleupon user, I don’t like to wait for a long time to read an article. I just go to some other website if the article doesn’t load in 10 seconds. Make sure your blog loads fast. If it is slow, try to note down the things that slow down your blog and try to correct them. Some of the widgets you use in your blog might not be working. This might cause your blog to load slowly. Remove these widgets that make your blog slow. If you need it very badly, put it at the end of the page so that it loads at the end and doesn’t slow down your blog. There is also a WordPress plugin that makes your blog to load faster. It’s called WordPress cache and you can get it from here.
3. A Subscribe Option
You have written a great post and your blog has suddenly started to receive many visitors. How are you going to make them your regular readers? What are you going to do to get what you deserve from them? The best option is to place a subscribe option at the starting of the post and the sidebar. Use a plugin like WWSGD (What Would Seth Godin Do) and also subscribe remind, if you want to add a subscribe link at the end of each post. The top right of the blog is a very good place for placing the subscribe option. I suggest you to place both RSS and email subscription option in the sidebar.

Great ideas.
If you are going to get a flood of traffic, you wan to make a good impression on them PLUS have something for them to do that improves your online business or bottom line.

This is something so many people forget to do. They want all this traffic, but when they get it, they’re not ready for it.
The first time I had a page submitted to StumbleUpon, I had over 4000 visitors a day. However, I wasn’t expecting them and I retained only a few loyal readers since I had no RSS links or anything.
If you build it, they might come, but they might not come back unless you have something in place to hook them.

Don’t submit your own blog, or at least do it VERY sparingly, and make sure you’re participating in the SU community - rating sites, making friends, reviewing pages… SU is not just about random links - there are many groups and forums. Get involved. SU members love to trash SEO optimizers and spammers, but if you are an active participant, you can direct friends (and thus their circle of friends) back to your blog posts all day long.

Some nice tips. I agree, no need to flood a post with ads if its meant for social success. Besides social traffic not converting as well as organic, many social sites (like digg) hate seeing a page covered in ads. It could have a negative impact on that posts success.
