Kevin MuldoonGoogle Affiliate Network Launched

Written by Kevin Muldoon from System0 on July 1, 2008

Google emailed me today about the launch of their new Affiliate Network.

Google Affiliate Network: As part of the integration of
DoubleClick, the DoubleClick Performics Affiliate Network will now
operate as the Google Affiliate Network for advertisers targeting
users located in the United States. Similar to the AdSense
Referrals program, the Google Affiliate Network enables publishers
to apply for advertiser programs and get paid based on
advertiser-defined actions instead of clicks or impressions. For
further details, please visit:
www.google.com/ads/affiliatenetwork.

I signed up this morning. Google has been trying to encourage the one login for all of their applications so I was suprised to see that my gmail/adsense login details didn’t work and I had to sign up as a publisher from scratch. I assume this is something they will do in the future.

Google also announced that their Adsense Referral program will be retired in the last week of August.

So they have dominated the whole contextual advertising niche, huh?

Starting an affiliate network and abandoning a program…

That at least is an interesting move, a prove this is one of the most lucrative market to get involved in.
