I just stumbled upon this post and boy am I glad I did! Not only was there some solid advice ({moves 'fix SU profile' to top of list}), but I find it absolutely hilarious that Ramkarthik recommends using an avatar to brand yourself, but then doesn't has the generic Gravatar logo next to his comment

I found the well written profile page pointer interesting. Seems obvious - but I never really invested much thought into it. I now realize its importance.

I agree with scott. Its virtually very hard to come up with ideas, BUT I am not thinking of earning millions from a single site. Its worth to try any ideas, ONLY you have to know what you doing and where you doing business. Internet business is one big giant galaxy. You just have to discover one small single spot.
I always put myself in client's shoes before I try anything. Good logo, good content, good marketing strategies are always up there in my mind.

So, in the end, I am ready to go with other's idea and make something different. You just have to go with it and later more ideas will come pumping in your mind.

Thanks for your article though, it was good read.

Scott, thanks for your opinion on the post. Actually an unique image can be anything you can think of. If you cannot come up with an unique image, why not go with your picture itself. After all, there won't be people with your face. Your image itself is a good way to build your brand. By having a good logo, you are going to dishonest on who you are. It is social media and your picture is only for people to recognize you when they see your picture.

Thanks for your comments.

I disagree with the first part of this post.

It is virtually impossible to come up with something so unique that someone else hasn't thought of it. Especially when it comes to your brand image.

I feel it is better to just be honest with who you are and what you are trying to say, and mold your image around that. If you are selling yourself, sell yourself and not someone hidden behind a logo.

Just my two cents :)

Cheers
