Ramkarthik3 Things You Have To Do Before Submitting A Post To A Social Site

Written by Ramkarthik from Blogging Tune

I will be writing on social sites like stumbleupon, digg, sphinn and more. Before writing posts about those social sites, you have few basic things which you need to do before starting to submit posts to the social sites. A deep thinking may bring up more than three, but if you consider the top 3 very basic things you need to do, they are:
1. A Good Image
2. Well Written Profile Page
3. Good Knowledge About The Site

Now let me take you into every point and make it clear on what I mean by every point.

1. Good Image
A good image is something which looks really unique. It should look good and at the same time something no one has ever had. The purpose of doing this is to build a brand for you with the image. There are certain people in social sites whom you can easily find out by seeing the avatar picture. People like Muhammad Saleem, Maki and many more have the same picture (as far as I know) in all the social sites. You can have an image of yourself or a cartoon of your picture or some creative logo. Come up with an image and use it in all your social sites.

2. Well Written Profile Page
Every social site lets you to write your own page or at least they let you to write the ‘about me’ column. You have to use this space to your advantage. People who don’t know about you will check your profile and if you clearly tell about you in your profile, it will be very helpful for them to get to know you. You can also put the url of your blog to make your blog popular among people. Tell them who you are, what you do and your contact information if possible. Would you believe if I tell you that I have got freelance writing gigs through stumbleupon messaging option? That is the advantage of having a well written profile page. Knowing

3. Good Knowledge About The Site

It is a must to have some good knowledge about the site before submitting any post to the social site. So what does a good knowledge mean? It is knowledge of which kind of posts have more chances to hit the front page of the site. Say, in sphinn SEO related posts have more chance of hitting the front page. Likewise every site has its own favorite topics. To know this, read the posts in the popular page of the social sites. The more you read, the more you will know about the site. Also in few sites, you don’t need to have many friends before you can hit the front page. In stumbleupon, you don’t need many friends to get a post to the buzz page. Even if you have 20 fans it is enough. While in few other sites, you need to have many friends before you can get a page to hit the front page. You will know all these only by observing the social sites closer.

What all do you think as a ‘must do’ before joining a social site? Do you have the above things? Please share your views in the comments.

I disagree with the first part of this post.

It is virtually impossible to come up with something so unique that someone else hasn’t thought of it. Especially when it comes to your brand image.

I feel it is better to just be honest with who you are and what you are trying to say, and mold your image around that. If you are selling yourself, sell yourself and not someone hidden behind a logo.

    Just my two cents :)

    Cheers

Scott, thanks for your opinion on the post. Actually an unique image can be anything you can think of. If you cannot come up with an unique image, why not go with your picture itself. After all, there won’t be people with your face. Your image itself is a good way to build your brand. By having a good logo, you are going to dishonest on who you are. It is social media and your picture is only for people to recognize you when they see your picture.

    Thanks for your comments.

I agree with scott. Its virtually very hard to come up with ideas, BUT I am not thinking of earning millions from a single site. Its worth to try any ideas, ONLY you have to know what you doing and where you doing business. Internet business is one big giant galaxy. You just have to discover one small single spot.
I always put myself in client’s shoes before I try anything. Good logo, good content, good marketing strategies are always up there in my mind.

So, in the end, I am ready to go with other’s idea and make something different. You just have to go with it and later more ideas will come pumping in your mind.

Thanks for your article though, it was good read.

  4. I found the well written profile page pointer interesting. Seems obvious – but I never really invested much thought into it. I now realize its importance.

I just stumbled upon this post and boy am I glad I did! Not only was there some solid advice ({moves ‘fix SU profile’ to top of list}), but I find it absolutely hilarious that Ramkarthik recommends using an avatar to brand yourself, but then doesn’t has the generic Gravatar logo next to his comment
