I have been chatting with Patrick DeVivo over the last few weeks about his new project ‘The Youth Bloggers Network‘. Patrick is building a site where young bloggers can chat and help each other out. I thought this was a great idea. I don’t believe there are any other communities which specifically target this niche which is why I wanted to let all you know about it.
There has been a lot of great young bloggers pop up in the last year or so (Carl Ocab in particular has done very well) and from the emails I have revieved, a lot of readers of this blog are teenagers too. Clearly there is a market for this kind of site.
Younger bloggers obviously face different challenges than adults. For example, generally speaking domain and hosting costs are negligible for most bloggers however I’m sure scraping together the cash for these things is a bit harder when you can’t even open a bank account in your own name. I would encourage younger bloggers to join popular web development communities like SitePoint though I do believe that they would benefit from joining a community such as this too as they can share their experiences with people in the same boat.
So if you’re a young blogger I recommend checking it out. Members are free to post on the blog and there is currently a competition to win a copy of the Black Omni WordPress Theme. There’s also a thread about the site in the Blogging Tips forums so feel free to ask any questions about the site there.

Great idea. I’ll mention it to my son.

I have talked about this in th forum, I think it is a great idea.
I am going to dedicate a bit of time over the next few weeks and add some content to the site.
Good Job Patrick.
