RamkarthikHow To Get More And More Karma Points In Mixx

Written by Ramkarthik from Blogging Tune on June 7, 2008

Mixx has a unique feature called the karma points which is one of the factors which decides whether you should be given a power user status in mixx or not. I wrote two posts in the last two weeks about mixx. One is on why you should join mixx and the other is on mixxing etiquette. Please read those two posts also if you want to know more about mixx.

Mixx Super Users

What Is Karma Point?
Mixx has this feature in it which allows you to accumulate points for each activity you do. These activities include submitting a link to mixx, commenting on submissions and also voting for submissions. There are a certain amount of points you get for each activity. Though these karma points alone don’t decide whether you will become a super user, it is one of the key factors. You need to have certain karma points to become a super user.

1. Submit Posts Regularly
When it comes to mixx, just like any other social media, you need to make regular submissions. Have a plan and follow it. Say, you can create a plan and decide to submit 5 links a day to mixx. Don’t submit 20 links one day and 0 links for the next 3 days. Just like blogging, when you don’t have time, you can stay away from mixx. But when you have time, work on mixx.

2. Submit Pictures And Videos
Mixx is not only for blog posts or articles; it is also for pictures and videos. The good thing is that pictures and videos require less number of votes than articles. Though the right number is not known, it is for sure that pictures and videos take fewer votes to make it to the front page of mixx.

3. Comment Increases Your Points Too
Like I said in my previous post on mixx, commenting increases karma points. It is a good habit to make many comments. If you only keep submitting links, you karma points will be all from submissions. But your karma points should be a mixture of points from submissions, comments and votes.

Things To Remember
1. Submit only quality links
2. Submit pictures and videos too
3. Comment only if you have something to say
4. Help your friends in their submissions

Have you started trying mixx? If yes, what do you feel about it? If you haven’t tried, I recommend you to try it out. After all it is free and you have got nothing to lose. Please share your opinion about becoming a mixx super user in the comments.

It is indeed true that videos and pictures require less votes to make it to the front page and this could work in your advantage if you make use of this.

I don’t know what it takes to become a super Mixxer, but I’m sure it’ll be worth it once you are one.

One reason why I’m looking forward to be active on Mixx is that it gives us some benefit (albeit assumed benefit) of super Mixxer. Digg doesn’t have anything like that, which explains why hundreds of good posts go unnoticed on Digg and only front page stories get traffic.
