This morning I received a copy of the much anticipated blogging book ‘ProBlogger : Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income‘. This 200+ page book is co authored by Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett and is incredibly well priced at $16.49 US Dollars (although the list price on the cover of the book is $24.99).
After the book was announced last month I ordered a copy from Amazon UK and was pleased to see it arrive early this morning. I plan on reading the book cover to cover in the next week however in the last 4 or 5 hours I have managed to read the first few chapters and browse through the rest of them.
In total the book has 11 sections. There is a brief introduction of both authors which explains how they got into blogging. This is followed by 10 chapters which explains everything from choosing a niche to monetarizing your blog. Here is a list of the book’s chapters :
- Blogging for Money
- Niche Blogging
- Setting Up Your Blog
- Blog Writing
- Blog Income and Earning Strategies
- Buying and Selling Blogs
- Blog Networks
- Blog Promotion and Marketing
- Secrets of Successful Blogs
- Creating Something Worthwhile
The first few chapters are aimed more towards beginners (setting your blog up etc) however more experienced bloggers should still pick up a few ideas for new projects (the ‘Niche Blogging’ section was particularly good). The rest of the book touches upon all other aspects of blogging with topics raning from post length, to encouraging comments to using link bait to drive traffic to your blog.
If you are a regular reader of ProBlogger or Chris Garrett’s blog then you will have come across some of the tips and techniques which are mentioned in the book. This didn’t bother me as it’s such an enjoyable read and even though I was familar with many tips in this book, it was still good to refresh some of the ideas in my head and it has given me some food for thought for future projects.
Overview
The book is not a blogging encyclopedia however Darren and Chris have managed to squeeze a lot of information into this book and I’m sure after I finish reading it I will still reference it from time to time. One of the things I liked was from the start of the book no promises or guarantees of success are made to the reader. In Darrens introduction he stresses that making money from blogging takes a long time and requires a lot of hard work and he encourages you to take everything one step at a time.
If you are serious about blogging then I strongly recommend buying this book as it will help you with a lot of aspects of blogging. Beginners will greatly benefit from the book however I believe there is also more than enough in the book to encourage serious webmasters and bloggers to purchase it. At such a low price it’s fantastic value for money.
If there is anything you would like to know about the book which I haven’t covered in this post, please leave a comment and I’ll do my best to answer it

From your review, I can safely deduce that this book is basically for beginners (mentioned twice), enjoyable read and value for money with its low price.

Darren - No problem
Kher - Actually no, I don’t believe the book is aimed strictly at beginners. Far from it. The first few chapters certainly are as it covers how to get a blog and where to host it etc however the latest chapters are a bit more advanced. I mentioned that experienced webmasters may know some of the things covered though - like flipping blogs for profit etc. However, there is still a lot of things covered in this book which I think even experienced bloggers will benefit from.

Sometimes, it makes me wonder whether do these people actually get rich by selling an idea on how to get rich, instead of using those idea themselves.

Thanks so much for these awesome feeds, leads and tips. I am a celebrity hairstylist in Beverly Hills and I have been blogging for just about a year now. Clients continually ask me questions about “how to style this” or “should I color my own hair” and I thought I’d just put everything in one spot.
I have had the very best time doing this, it’s fun, entertaining, I love writing, and am really enjoying exploring this part of my “behind the chair” journey.
Take care everyone, and keep the tips coming. I love them.
