I sometimes use current events to illustrate how to do something on my blog.  For example:  After Kyla Ebbers got kicked off a Southwest flight for being too revealing I did a post showing how using a current event keyword phrase can get you lots of attention quickly.

Though my blog is about how to make money blogging, I was able to get lots more eyeballs (and a few more readers) using this technique.</description>
