Spot on Andy.. otherwise with duplicate content Google will put your site in its supplementary index which is pointless really not only that these supp pages can drag your PR and SERPS pages down with it.. You should consider some video posts as your writing is top stuff.

Yeah i would tend to agree with you on that one Random Thinker, however to give you an example. About 12 months ago on one of my companies websites i had been using content which was taken from article directories etc, (with credits of course). No matter what i tried, i could not get a decent search engine ranking, and i tried for over 18 months but nothing worked.

In the end i decided to hire somebody to rewrite the entire website with totally unique content, (i could have done it but was far too busy). Upon uploading the content, and checking keyword density's etc as i always do, i thought great. Within 3 months of uploading that content, i was within the first 2 pages for competitive keywords such as Logo Design, UK Web Design and others. By far the most competitive was Logo Design, but i have remained at the top of the ranks for that keyword ever since.

Albeit i haven't worked on that site for a number of months, my ranks have dropped a little, but i am still ranked number 13 for that keyword, which i am very happy with. So in conclusion, in my own opinion and going by my own experiences, i think that using duplicate content will do you more harm then good. Yes you might get a fair bit of traffic, however you could potentially be getting even more traffic if you was using unique content.

Thanks for your comment. hope to see you round here again sometime :)

I've heard very conflicted opinions about duplicate articles. Even though Google may deem some content to be a duplicated, it still seems to work for many. I've done some searches on DP regarding this subject and it seems there are mixed feelings. Lots of people are posting duplicate content and they are getting quite a bit of traffic, whether we like it or not. (I'm not one of them).
