I can’t tell you the number of people that I hear from that are talking about starting a blog but for one reason or another just haven’t. There is only one thing needed in order for that blog to go from the idea stage to an actual blog. Action. Taking action is the only way your going to get your blog off the ground and moving forward. But I don’t want to leave you hanging with just that. Taking action doesn’t mean that I think you r should have all parts of your blog up by the end of the day. Rather action is starting to put the pieces together and come up with a plan to launch your blog.
I don’t want that to sound too difficult because its not, I just want you to make sure you put in the time to fill in the blanks and start your blog out the right way from the beginning.
Learn as much as you can - If your brand new to blogging then you should learn as much as possible about blogging and starting your own blog. Your in a good place to do just that if your reading this article. Blogging Tips has hundreds of articles written by professionals that will help you get going in the right direction.
Create your plan - Start writing down your action items and what you think it will take to start your blog. The more you learn the more questions you will answer along the way. Again this is not complicated but put a little thought into things before you rush into them.
Start executing your plan - Marking off items as you go. This will give you sense of accomplishment and you will start to see the fruits of your labor.
Before you know it you’ll be blogging regularly and building your readership.
Want the shortened version? - Pick your niche. Decide weather to have your blog hosted (Wordpress.com, blogger.com etc…) or host your own (choose your own domain and buy hosting). Get WordPress installed. Log in and start writing. This is of course the shotgun aproach and I would recommend you take a little more time and plan things out.
Bottom line is if you don’t take action you’ll never start your blog and you’ll always wish you did. So get out there. And good luck with it. If you need help you know where to find us. We’ll be right here at BloggingTips.com

Jason I have to say, I think the shotgun approach works best. A long-time freelance writer, I get so many queries from wannabe freelance writers asking how to get started. They get so bogged down in the details that never do the one thing that’s guaranteed to bring in a job, which is to start sending out queries. Simple, direct to the point emails work; don’t worry about what a query is, the proper format, blah, blah, blah.
With the plethora of information on the web, it’s easy to get sidetracked by “research.” When I started my blog (after procrastinating for months), I simply sat down, created a blogger account and started writing.
Over three years later, I’m still at it. I had no idea what it would become. It had to find it’s legs, which happened, with every post I made. Sometimes you have to “write your way into a voice, a style, a brand.”
But, as you say, the bottom line is, you just have to take ACTION.
Nice point to bring up. Best,
Yuwanda
