Deborah NgAre You Twittering? Well…Why Not?

Written by Deborah Ng from Freelance Writing Jobs on March 2, 2008

I admit it. I hesitated to sign up for Twitter. See, every time I sign up for a new social networking site or tool I get totally sucked in and work suffers. I can be quite social, especially when I don’t have to leave my chair. So, despite everyone else’s encouragement I put off signing up. Last November at Blog World Expo a number of people convinced me to join, so I did - and it proved to be a wise choice.

Lots of New Friends

I made lots of new friends thanks to Twitter. This is a good thing as new friends always mean new experiences. If I have a question or there’s something I don’t understand, I throw it out to my Twitter friends and receive a response in seconds. Likewise I try and help when I can.

Learn New Things

Thanks to Twitter, my RSS feed has a lot more entries. Almost every day I’m turned on to a new blog or website. I get the news headlines before they hit the mainstream and learn cool tricks, tips and ideas. Did I mention folks on Twitter are helpful?

Gain a New Audience

New friends mean more traffic for my blogs. When I have a new blog entry, I post the link on Twitter and some of my friends come to visit. They’re under no obligation, of course, but there’s always the curious. One brand new Twitter friend submitted a post from Simply Thrifty to Digg and I received 15,000 new visitors as a result.

Follow Me

I’m always looking to make new Twitter friends. Feel free to follow me at DebNg. I can’t wait to see what you have to say.

Yeah there seems to be a lot of talk about twitter this last 12 months or so, i ended up signing up and just felt really confused on how you can use it for exposure and subscribers. I think the general idea is there, but i did find it confusing and really didnt know how i could use it to my advantage, or my blogs advantage more to the point.

Maybe somebody who uses twitter could write up a blog post for people like myself on how to use it, and how it should be used properly to best effect in terms of marketing ones blog.

I have been a member of Twitter for a few months and find it useful for writing down thoughts but I don’t use it like I should. I also tend to get sidetracked from my regular work schedule.

What I like about it is being able to see the thoughts of those that I am following and as of now I will be able to see what’s on your mind as well.

I also enjoy using Twitter..It’s fun and efficient plus the people there are really nice. At first, I also felt hesitant to sign up especially when I posted my first few updates..I was really having a hard time with the 140 character limit…but now I’m already used to it..I realized you only need 140 or less characters to say what you are thinking most of the time..^^
