Deborah NgUsing Google Trends

I check Google Trends several times a day as a way to keep track of what people are searching for and bringing in some traffic. While this has proven quite useful for my celebrity blog, it’s come in handy for other niches as well. For instance, on the morning of Valentine’s Day I noticed the number search was for “free Valentine’s Day e-cards.”

With this in mind, I posted “5 Places to Find Free Valentine’s Day E-Cards” on my Simply Thrifty blog. Soon after, Simply Thrifty was the number two blog on Google Trends for this term and I got a little traffic boost.

Using Google Trends and Yahoo Buzz also helps me break through blogger’s block. I check back every couple of hours, see what people are searching for and now I have a topic if one wasn’t planned already.

If you’re looking to bring in some traffic, learn about the latest trends and searches and find material for your blogs, I urge you to check Google Trends several times a day. It’s updated hourly and is one of the tools this blogger can’t live without.

The great thing about it is that if you are vigilant you could really make a killing with Google Adwords as well. Following Google Trends intently can land you some pocket money long before your competition wakes up.

The general trend is that in the mornings typically searches regarding news events are more prominent. It is during the day that searches regarding new products are more prominent. This is where you need to be patient and you could be making money days before anyone else even know there is a new product on the market. Either way, I agree, it’s a very good way of knowing what’s going on in the market.
