We (even me) envision our blogs to be one of the top blogs in whatever topic we might specialize in or even just to have a healthy blogging career even though we might not be on top. Of course, making this vision a reality is harder than it seems because you have to find time and effort to make this a reality.

One of the things which could actually help in your goal is making sure that you know the signs when your blog is sinking or even dropping in the Google page rank (if ever you have one). Here are some signs that your blog is going down:

a. No one cares - No one cares if you have that wonderful insight to share or even a ground-breaking secret to reveal. Remember that news spreads faster if there are actually people talking about it even though different versions are being shared. Comments and linking should be checked on a regular basis.

b. Stats are going Down - If you see a descending pattern in your blog stats then something is definitely off. Try to pinpoint what are the things that you have done wrong and see how such actions have affected your blog.

c. You find yourself in your own bubble - Talking to yourself is fine once in a while but if you have a blog and you feel that the only audience is you then that is a definite sign that you are sinking-big time.

d. Less Spam comments - Yes, even spam comments have their uses because once you see these spam comments, it’s a sign that your blog is somehow taking off as compared to not seeing anything at all. It just means that you are having some kind of impact in the blogosphere and it is being picked off by these spam comments. Of course, delete them and do not let it get in the way of your traffic.

The main action plans for these signs is to make sure that you have a strategy in fighting these factors. Some of these strategies is to join social networking, post quality posts and other things that could improve your blog. Remember that rising on top is harder but falling is twice harder.

Happy Blogging!
