You have to spend way more money than sanity dictates on marketing to make your blog feel like it deserves the traffic, then you have to pray that some domain name squatter doesn&#039;t snipe your name when it&#039;s renewal time, and eventually, the blog will want to become a permanent part of your life, thereby killing any social contacts you may have made with other humans (i.e. friends) and obligating you to a life of indentured servitude.

Then come the spin-off blogs and squidoo lenses...

And that horrid spam! Your email used to be clean and nice to look at, but over time the spam piles on, and you used to delete just one or two here and there, but now it&#039;s just too much effort to try to install a spam filter...and they are all the same, none of them work.

Your spin-off blog stinks. Time to change it.

Yeah, good post, bad analogy...at least for me. But hey, I&#039;m biased.</description>
